LOUNGE MUSIC FOR THE NOW GENERATION
THE DUDLEY MANLOVE QUARTET, proud owners of the big boss sound of lounge, purveyors of pure pop pleasure, and easily the world's foremost six-man quartet, has been wowing crowds since early 1995. Mixing a savvy blend of pop standards and sing-along favorites, DMQ has blossomed into one of Seattle's top club draws.
DMQ celebrates the one truly American art form: The Popular Song. The great composers--Bacharach/David, Webb, Diamond--and the original artists--Sinatra, Warwick, Humperdinck--are the inspiration for DMQ's unique musical stylings. Each member of DMQ has an impressive musical background, both in formal training and in pop music. They bring this knowledge and experience to the art of the pop song, giving each tune a fresh burst of energy, precision, and showmanship. Their fun, dance-and-sing along shows have earned them a rapt following, and garnered the band a 1999 Northwest Music Awards nomination for Best Live Cover Band.
And DMQ plays songs you know and love. Their playlist is not confined to any one genre. Pop, rock, swing, country, disco, show tunes, movie and TV themes, love ballads, instrumentals--all are part of that great Dudley sound. Don't be surprised (or embarrassed) if you know the words to some of these chestnuts; DMQ handpicks only the best songs for their audience, songs you've laughed, loved, and lost by. Indeed, these songs are the threads in the fabric of our lives.
Who loves the Dudley Manlove Quartet? Everyone, young and old, hip and square, bad and beautiful. Indeed, Seattle has gone ga-ga for DMQ's knockout performances--standing-room-only shows at Seattle's Crocodile Cafe and Showbox; Portland's La Luna; LA's House of Blues; and Bimbo's, the Fillmore, and Cafe du Nord in San Francisco. They have opened for such diverse acts as Mel Torme, the Indigo Girls, Super Diamond and Bud E. Luv. With the eminent release of their sophomore CD, following the success of their first album, "The Dudley Manlove Quartet...are GO!" and their Christmas EP, "A Very Dudley Christmas," DMQ plans to be busy boys in the 21st century.
